VMS Print Queue to Email

Is there anyway to setup a print queue to automatically send the job to an Email address instead of a printer? Thanks - Noob

Re: VMS Print Queue to Email

You can use the famous EXECSYMB printsymbiont.
It is a general symbiont, which allows you the write a piece of DCL code as the real 'worker'. You can then do with the file whatever you want.

Check the usual file archives, e.g.
http://vms.process.com/scripts/fileserv/fileserv.com?EXECSYMB

Re: VMS Print Queue to Email

No idea about setting print queue to send email.

But we have used mail command from DCL before print command..., will it be usefull?

$ mail/subject="xxxx" mailmessage.dat SMTP%"mark@yahoo.com"
$ print xxxx.dat

Re: VMS Print Queue to Email

I have a mail symbiont for mailing print jobs. Drop me a mail if you want a copy.

It can handle ascii or binary files. The job will be seen as an attachment in your mail client.
