Product Number: AB209A
the Firmware Information:
Firmware Revision: 2.31 [4411]
...............
BMC Revision 1.52
I tyied to intsall the OVMS 8.2 I64 into the local hot-plus 73G disk, but I couldn't booted the up the DVD (label:I64082) at all.
under the EFI:
fs0:\efi\boot\bootia64.efi
my question is:
does rx2600's firmware was enough to identify the OVMS filesystem, for I couldn't list the content of DVD.

Solutionyour FW revisions are o.k.
Does EFI see the DVD ? What are the error messages you're seeing when trying to boot the I64082 DVD ?
Please check the OpenVMS V8.2 Upgrade and Installation Manual Chapter B.6 Booting Operations

Re: VMS V8.2 I64 DVD booted faulted on rx2600
I couldn't see the DVD content at all.
fs0:>dir
or:
shell>fs0:\efi\boot\bootia64.efi
the error messages is,
"fs0:\efi\boot\bootia64.efi not found"
How can I confirm the DVD is availiable at EFI?

Re: VMS V8.2 I64 DVD booted faulted on rx2600
on Itanium you have to add DVD device (fs0) in boot list, see help bcfg command.
It's simpler, in boot maintenance, select "Add a boot option" then follow instruction.
Your firmware revision is almost recent; HP documentation reports as last build as 4412 but I believe you can only boot changing list.

did you issue the following command at the EFI Shell> prompt:
Shell> map -r
Do you see the DVD as a file system (fsn:) device ?

Re: VMS V8.2 I64 DVD booted faulted on rx2600
I issused the EFI Command
shell> map -r
........
Device mapping table
fs0: Acpi(HWP0002,100)/Pci(1|0)/Scsi(Pun0,Lun0)/HD(Part1,SigC5BC0000)
blk0: Acpi(HWP0002,0)/Pci(2|0)/Ata(Primary,Master)
blk1: Acpi(HWP0002,100)/Pci(1|0)/Scsi(Pun0,Lun0)
blk2: Acpi(HWP0002,100)/Pci(1|0)/Scsi(Pun0,Lun0)/HD(Part1,SigC5BC0000)
blk3: Acpi(HWP0002,100)/Pci(1|0)/Scsi(Pun0,Lun0)/HD(Part2,SigC5BC0000)
mstartup.nsh> echo -off
only the fs0: was seen and it is the hot-plus disk with HP-UX, I want ovwewrite this disk with OVMS.

Re: VMS V8.2 I64 DVD booted faulted on rx2600
did you have the I64082 DVD in the drive when you issued the map -r ?
I've just put our V8.2 DVD into the drive of our rx2600 and it looks like this:
Shell> map -r
Device mapping table
fs0 : Acpi(HWP0002,0)/Pci(2|0)/Ata(Primary,Master)/CDROM(Entry0)
fs1 : Acpi(HWP0002,100)/Pci(1|0)/Scsi(Pun0,Lun0)/HD(Part1,Sig68B36441-E6F6-1)
fs2 : Acpi(HWP0002,100)/Pci(1|0)/Scsi(Pun0,Lun0)/HD(Part4,Sig68B36440-E6F6-1)
blk0 : Acpi(HWP0002,0)/Pci(2|0)/Ata(Primary,Master)
blk1 : Acpi(HWP0002,0)/Pci(2|0)/Ata(Primary,Master)/CDROM(Entry0)
blk2 : Acpi(HWP0002,100)/Pci(1|0)/Scsi(Pun0,Lun0)
...

Re: VMS V8.2 I64 DVD booted faulted on rx2600
the DVD drive will show up as a BLOCK device (e.g. blk0:), even if there is no DVD in the drive:
blk0: Acpi(HWP0002,0)/Pci(2|0)/Ata(Primary,Master)
If there is a DVD in the drive, which contains an EFI partition, it will also show up as a file structured device (e.g. fs0:):
fs0 : Acpi(HWP0002,0)/Pci(2|0)/Ata(Primary,Master)/CDROM(Entry0)

Re: VMS V8.2 I64 DVD booted faulted on rx2600
I had finished the installation task this afternoon. after insert the new I64082 DVD,
I could find the "fs0:" with OpenVMS file system, boot up using EFI shell, the familiar "VMS INSTALLATION/UPGRUDE MENU".
the follow task was the same as ALPHA.
Thanks again
