Version 8.2 versus Version 8.3

Since Oracle 10G will not be certified on 8.3 until later this year, we'll have to upgrade to Ovms 8.2 instead. (from 7.3-2). Is there any reason to "hold on" a while and just go to 8.3?? In other words, are they (8.2 and 8.3) pretty similar operationally?? FYI, from Oracle "The certification of 8.3 is delayed due to the fact that we have to certify Alpha and Itanium." Thanks, Jeff

Re: Version 8.2 versus Version 8.3

you will gain most of the benefits of upgrading by going to V8.2 however upgrading does cost and if you can wait then perform one upgrade to V8.3 then this will be cheaper.

According to
http://h71000.www7.hp.com/openvms/openvms_supportchart.html

V8.3 will be sorted for at least a year longer (to 31-DEC-2009 minimum)

v8.3 is faster than previous versions !

Maybe not enough to warrant waiting for, but something to look forward too when you do. ;-)

Twin,

Please go ahead no any much differences in 8.2 & 8.3 v and also upgradation from 7.3-2 to 8.3 is not a big deal.
