Where's the latest VMS732_FIBRE_SCSI patch?

I'm setting up a DS25 connected to an MSA1000. I gather* that I need a patch to get the storage seen by the system. There doesn't seem to be one available on ITRC, so what to do?

*SHOW DEV doesn't list anything

I also cannot find the FIBRE_SCSI patch listed separately anywhere, but it is included in the VMS732_UPDATE-V0400 patch if you can apply that.

Re: Where's the latest VMS732_FIBRE_SCSI patch?

Mark,

the highest available VMS732_FIBRE_SCSI patch currently available is VMS732_FIBRE_SCSI-V0300 as included in VMS732_UPDATE-V0400.

There have been problems with VMS732_FIBRE_SCSI-V0500 and VMS732_FIBRE_SCSI-V0600, which caused those patches to be put on hold and withdrawn from ITRC.

Unfortunately VMS732_FIBRE_SCSI-V0400, which is shown (in the ALPHA_V732_MASTER_ECO_LIST) as NOT included in VMS732_UPDATE-V0400 is also not avaialble from ITRC. It has probably been deleted when putting up -V0500 and has not been put back after removing -V0500.

Let me guess: do you need LP10000 support (Emulex 2-channel FC HBA) - this came with VMS732_FIBRE_SCSI-V0400 ? Does SHOW DEV PG or SHOW DEV FG show anything ?

You should log a call with HP and request VMS732_FIBRE_SCSI-V0400 to be made available again on ITRC. Maybe you could also try to find someone, who has kept of copy of that patch - if that's what you need.

When MSA1000 was introduced, it could not be used by VMS untilk a patch on the MSA-hardware was done. It might be you need that one?
IIRC, the lastest FIBRE_SCSI patch was withdrawn due to problems (sometimes rendering system disks on SAN unbootrable after install) but that might have been a later one.
(Both issues have been discussed in this forum)

re: Willem,

when the MSA1000 was introduced, you needed a special MSA1000 FW and the VMS731_MSA1000-V0100 patch, but this was back in the days of V7.3-1

The current firmware for MSA1000 is V4.48 and clearly supports OpenVMS.

Mark may just need a patch to support his FC adapters on V7.3-2.

I don't see the disks. Expected to see something like $1$DGAnnnn

Is there something on VMS that needs to be done?

Documentation reference greatly appreciated.

Re: Where's the latest VMS732_FIBRE_SCSI patch?

Mark,

there was a recent discussion in ITRC on how to setup a MSA1000:

http://forums1.itrc.hp.com/service/forums/questionanswer.do?threadId=878721

Once you've assigned Identifiers to the LUNs on the MSA1000, you need a MC SYSMAN IO AUTO to configure the disks under OpenVMS.

You'll find the docu etc. on

http://www.hp.com/go/msa1000
