decnet address show 0.0
$ show net
reveals an decnet address of 0.0 altough it is confired as being 1.103
This has been checked with decnet_register.exe and in modparams.dat
Strange thing is; the node does work properly in the network. Doing a set host to its name works and doing a set host to 1.103 works!
We've tried to give it another name but the "problem" stays.
Strange ;-)

Re: decnet address show 0.0
Strange Indeed.
What is the value of the SYSGEN parameter SCSSYSTEMID ?
You can get that with the following DCL command
$MC SYSGEN SHOW SCSSYSTEMID

Re: decnet address show 0.0
Only "SHOW NET" command is giving the wrong address hence try if this works -
$SET NET/ADDRESS=

Re: decnet address show 0.0
the procedure SYS$STARTUP:SYS$NET_SERVICES.COM should be run during startup and 'register' the DECnet and TCPIP addresses by executing the appropriate procedures:
SYS$NET_SERVICES_DECNET.COM
SYS$NET_SERVICES_TCPIP.COM
Normally, SYS$STARTUP:SYS$NET_SERVICES.COM would be executed in VMS$BASEENVIRON-050_VMS.COM during boot. It should not be necessary< anymore to explicitly invoke this procedure from SYSTARTUP_VMS.COM.
You can try to manually invoke this procedure and check for errors.

Re: decnet address show 0.0
you don't happen to have the logical NET$IGNORE_DECNET defined, have you ?

Re: decnet address show 0.0
Is there any other node configured with the same decent name and decent address?
Did you try executing sys$startup:net$startup.com?

Ketan

Re: decnet address show 0.0
if there is another node with the same DECnet address on the LAN, the routing circuit would not start, but DECnet would start locally.
Have a look at SYS$STARTUP:SYS$NET_SERVICES_DECNET.COM to understand how that procedure works...

Re: decnet address show 0.0
