how connect to decserver700 with load server Windows

Hello,

I have also a pb with the Flash RAM of a Decserver 700.

Local -953- [MOP] Attempting to locate load host [ISO8802]
Local -953- [MOP] Attempting to locate load host [ETHERNET]
Local -953- [IP] Attempting to locate load host [ETHERNET]
Local -951- Server will retry operation in 16 seconds

....

I must load the file WWENG2, but does it possible with a Windows 2000 server?

If it is possible can you say me what is the solution?

Thank's so much.

Re: how connect to decserver700 with load server Windows

Hello

I doubt than a Windows 2000 Server could load a Decserver 700, as it does not talk Dump Load (60-01).

When your Decserver 700 is loaded, you can connect with Tsm using 60-02 (Remote Console).

See
http://www.protocols.com/pbook/decnet.htm#MOP

Get another Flash Ram or have in the local Lan a Vms node with service circuit enabled.

60-01 is not a routable protocol, so you can not use a remote Vms node.

Re: how connect to decserver700 with load server Windows

It might be best to ask Vnetek, the current owner of the DECserver 700 product line.

Compaq and HP have not had particularly anything particular to do with DECserver, as DEC had sold off the product line over decade ago.

Here's the Vnetek site:

http://www.vnetek.com/s-211-decserver.aspx

What you're looking for from Vnetek is a copy of their Access Server Manager package, with versions such as V3 reportedly working with old Windows.

Might have to ask the Vnetek folks to dig around, as it doesn't look like the folks have fully recovered from their web site migration earlier this year.

It's certainly also feasible to load these boxes from various Linux and Unix hosts, and from OpenVMS. Here's how to load the DECserver with its bits using an OpenVMS V6.2 (or later) system and its LANCP tool:

http://64.223.189.234/node/233

Replacement terminal servers are cheap, too, either as IP-based serial terminal servers or in the guise of thin clients or such. Assuming Vnetek doesn't have the bits...
