keyboard mapping PF4 key to PC keyboard

I have a VMS server with a serial console and keyboard. One of our backup processes requires the use of the PF4 key (located above the right side number keys). The PC keyboard is much different. I want to be able to run my backup remotely from a telnet window on my PC but there is now PF4 key on my PC. How can I find the different keyboard mappings?

Thanks.

Re: keyboard mapping PF4 key to PC keyboard

Hi,
no universal answer because PF4 is located on keyboard by your emulator software.
If you are using Powerterm (of pathwork32) you can find PF4 on - (minus) of numeric keyboard (same layout of VT keyboard).
If you are using some other old emulator you can find PF4 on F4 key.
If you are using standard telnet of PC you CANNOT FIND PF4.

Most emulaters such as kea allow a keyboard mapping. You can e.g. map it to f1 or to control-4.

Re: keyboard mapping PF4 key to PC keyboard

Jeff,
if you are using HyperTerm or telnet of PC you can emulate PF4 sendinf OS (escape + uppercase O + uppercase S)

The esc+O+S seems to work!!

How about the other PS keys?? IS there a chart somewhere?

Thanks.

Re: keyboard mapping PF4 key to PC keyboard

Jeff,
I don't know where you can find mapping. I have paper documentation.
PF1 OP
PF2 OQ
PF3 OR
PF4 OS
F6 [17~
F7 [18~
F8 [19~
F9 [20~
and so on

Re: keyboard mapping PF4 key to PC keyboard

You can find the escape sequences sent by the keyboard in the VT220 Programmer Reference Manual, e.g.
