lancp device counter definitions

Hi,

I've been trying to find descriptions of the device counters displayed via the lancp command "show device /count" without much success. Looking at other related threads I believe OpenVMS 8.2 has a help file associated with this but unfortunately I do not have access to that particular version.

Although, a reference to a description of all counters would be much appreciated, if a brief discription of alignment and frame check errors could be given (what they are, why they occur and possible impact) it would make my day!

Thanks in advance
Rich

I suppose you refer to the document:
LAN_COUNTERS_AND_FUNCTIONS.TXT
which I've attached.

Re: lancp device counter definitions

Hi Kalle,

Thanks for the text file thats what I was after. However, are the lancp device counters returned different in later versions of OpenVMS as I cannot seem to find anything on "Frame Check Errors"?

Also I do not fuilly understand the explaination for Alignment Errors, please could someone simplify it for me? (if possible!)

"Number of packets received with CRC errors and that are not an integral number of bytes long. These packets are discarded and are counted by the device."

Thanks in advance
