I do not think so.
CHECKSUM works fine for me, but I have not the faintest idea what md5 is/should do.

(CHECKSUM does not use the md5 algorithm)

I'm told someone from hp is looking at problem file today.

I don't know how CHECKSUM works, but I recall from previous discussions (many years ago) that it is rather simple and easy to defeat.

MD5 is much stronger:
