>>but that URL is damaged

Though the original poster doesn't indicate the error encountered nor the trigger, all URLs are typically "damaged" by the ITRC forum software.
The ITRC URL parsing around RFC 2396 URI Generic Syntax notation (and specifically around the use of angle brackets) is erroneous, and (when the parsing works, usually because us posters adjust what we're posting to work within the constraints of the software) you'll then get a javascript-embedded URL for a popup window rather than a more tab-friendly (usually NOFOLLOW) URL.
It's quite common for the ITRC parser to (also) pick up a trailing parenthesis character as part of the URL, too.
I'd suggest getting a copy of the Stack Overflow forum software or something with equal function; this current package can most charitably described as "very weak". Or (following recent acquisition practices) HP should just buy Stack Overflow folks.
FWIW.

Yes, so I always put the URL on a separate line.
>you'll then get a javascript-embedded URL
>It's quite common for the ITRC parser to pick up a trailing parenthesis
And I use the firefox URL Link plugin to handle those URLs.
