tcpip show version

As usual, showing actual commands with their actual output can be
more helpful than vague descriptions or interpretations.
Is this a new problem where the same command had been working, or is
this the first time you've tried to enable the Telnet service?

Re: openvms telnet hung
As stated in hte previous reply, more information is required. Also, you indicate that the server restarts. Does the Alpha crash and restart or just TCPIP?
If the system crashes, post the crash information. This will tell what happened as well. Once more information is posted, additional info may be requested.
