JPEG's? Excel spreadsheets? You couldn't
simply copy+paste the plain text?

Re: ping is not working.

Deepak Raheja,

The proxy server at my location won't allow a zip file to be downloaded. A cut and paste to a plain text would be readable.

I see that you've posted the Magic Bunny on the thread. That indicates you've worked out a solution, is this correct?

If you don't have time to do it right, when will you have time to do it over? Reach me at first_name + "." + last_name at sysmanager net

Re: ping is not working.

Hello Andy,
As per you told I have cut/copy the asked query by you,in a text file .Please have a look on the attached file.

(EA1DS1 is the name of one VMS server and EA1DS2 is the name of the another one VMS servers and they are in LAN.)

Re: ping is not working.

Deepak,
Once again,

Can you ping the machine using the IP address??

This is an important question since;

If the answer is NO, then you have a network topology/routing problem.

If the answer is yes, then you may have a DNS problem.

Re: ping is not working.

Hello Dave,

My remote VMS server(EA1DS2) is not able to ping from either name or by IP from other remote server. But it is pinging by its local LAN server.

All the routes in server both sides are same as before problem occurred.

Re: ping is not working.

OK,
If I understand you correctly,

1. Within Remote Site 1, EA1DS1 and EA1DS2 can ping each other.

2. EA0DS1 & EA0DS2 (both Local) can ping EA1DS1 (Remote1).

3. EA0DS1 & EA0DS2 (both Local) can NOT ping EA1DS2 (Remote1).

Is this correct. (If not, please respond with the correct details about who can ping who, using the same hostnames than you used in your PDF.)

Additional Question: Can EB0DS1/EB0DS2 and EC0DS1/EC0DS2 ping the local servers (EA0DS1/EA0DS2) and/or the Remote1 servers (EA1DS1/EA1/DS2)??

Dave.

Re: ping is not working.

Yes Dave,
1. Within Remote Site 1, EA1DS1 and EA1DS2 can ping each other.

yes for all point 3.
I wish to add 1 more point that from Local Windows machines( EA0FE1 & EA0FE2)I am able to ping Remote EA1DS2.But from VMS machines I am not able to do so.

Similarly EB0DS1/2 is not able to ping EA1DS2,but able to ping EA1DS1

On other hand EC0DS1/2 is able to ping bothe EA1DS1/2.

While in ideal case all machines should ping with each other.because all are connected with each other.Route add should not be a matter as per my opinon because i add whole network route.
