Re: "min" boot at Itanium machine

Sentosa,

there is no SRM console on Itanium systems, they use the EFI console subsystem.

If you shutdown the system, you'll end up with the following on the console port (MP or BMC):

SYSTEM SHUTDOWN COMPLETE

**** Primary HALTED with code HWRPB_HALT$K_REMAIN_HALTED

**** Hit any key to cold reboot ****
P00>>>

You have to hit any key, then - once the EFI Boot Manager shows up - select to go to EFI Shell [built-in] and find your way to the correct file system (most likely fs0:) and the VMS directory:

Shell> fs0:
fs0:\> cd \efi\vms
fs0:\efi\vms> vms_loader.efi -fl n,n

When invoking the vms_loader.efi, you can specify -flags n,n - as you are used to with any Alpha system.

There is a chapter in the OpenVMS Upgrade and Installation Manual on how to set up and use your Integrity server:

http://h71000.www7.hp.com/doc/83final/ba322_90045/apb.html

You just have to get used to EFI, it's really different from SRM console on Alpha.

Re: "min" boot at Itanium machine

Very useful for me.
Thanks Volker.

After choose EFI shell [built-in] in boot Menu, how to control the backspace in the shell prompt?

Thanks,

Re: "min" boot at Itanium machine

Sentosa,

see the following chapter in the manual pointed to above:

Overview of Utilities and Console Options

Using the Delete or Backspace Key with Integrity Server Utilities

Just make no typing mistakes ;-)
