scsi hd

Hello All,
I am looking for a new or use external hard drive at least 1G to replace my bad hard drive make by seagate. I use another scsi from seagate but when I init/erase dua0:, error can't init this drive don't know why maybe this drive/model don't work with Vax system.
When shopping for scsi HD what to look for will work with Vax.
Thanks

Re: scsi hd

You are probably running an old version of VMS, like V5.5-2 or similar. Newer versions of VMS are more tolerant of SCSI disk drive settings.

Look for a disk with a name of RZ2x, like RZ26 (for 1GB), RZ28 (2GB), etc.

Many used equipment dealers should have used RZ2x disks for sale. The interesting part is "external".

What type of VAX are you trying to use this disk on?

Re: scsi hd

I could recommend a reseller of an old genuine digital branded scsi drive.

Even if they are made by sygate they may not work. The firmware and such may not match.

Vinny at Total Tec seems to have a great handle on this.
I have no vested interest. He just keeps my customer's happy.
