status of FTSV

I would like to know the status of FTSV (file transfer spooler for Vms). Is it
- a layered product, with a cost and a licence
- available as a freeware, downloadable from ?
- something else ?

Thanks

Re: status of FTSV

Gerard,

Do you mean the following?

HP OpenVMS Engineering uses a tool known as FTSV for creating self-extracting compressed files using the OpenVMS DCX compression tools, as seen with various OpenVMS ECO (patch) kits. The FTSV and its related FTSO package have only limited availability outside HP, and are not standard products.

Something, I found on the net.

Kris

Re: status of FTSV

No

I have first used Ftsv in 1988, I know the product. I want to know if like TSM, it is available, or is it still an asset, or ?

What is the status ?

Re: status of FTSV

In the SPD, I find FTSO

but not FTSV.

But I have not found it in the freeware, as is TSM now.

Re: status of FTSV

Gerard,

According to my (limited) info FTSV & FTSO were retired somewhere around the year 2000.

Re: status of FTSV

I think that as FTSO has a SPD, it is sold.

Re: status of FTSV

Gerard,

Sorry to be obstinate, but according to http://h71000.www7.hp.com/openvms/os/swroll/72.HTML the FTSO product is retired.

I think the best thing to do is to contact HP directly, and ask them.

Kris.

PS: I also found that SPD you mention.

Re: status of FTSV

Well I am not interested in FTSO, only in FTSV :-)

Re: status of FTSV

FTSO was a product but marketed poorly even by Digital standards :-)
It is no longer sold but within hp I think its still in use (SPOOL/COMPRESS to create those .PCSI_AXPEXE files).
It would be nice if it appeared on the freeware or was otherwise available.

Contact yr local friendly hp office to see what they say.
