unable to uninstall software using PRODUCT REMOVE

Hi All

I'm trying to install new version of CSWS but am unable to do so.
It was once installed on a disk d$160. This disk has been gone for many years.
I cant install it as first it tries to remove the old version which no longer exist :

The following products will be removed from destinations:
CPQ AXPVMS CSWS V1.3-1 D$160:[000000.]

PCSI-E-DSTDEVERR, destination device error
-PCSI-E-ACCDEVICE, error accessing device D$160
-SYSTEM-F-IVDEVNAM, invalid device name

Is there a way round this?

Thanks so much

Re: unable to uninstall software using PRODUCT REMOVE

I am not familiar with the particulars of the installation/removal process, but I would try assigning the name D$160 to a valid device. It is possible that the procedure can not handle the device error but CAN handle the absence of the actual application files. Redirect d$160 to a valid scratch disk and try again. Post the results.

Re: unable to uninstall software using PRODUCT REMOVE

Did you try just doing a

$ Product Install /Dest=device-name:[directory-name]

option 2 (maybe)

try to trick it. Define a logical "d$160" and point if to an empty directory.

who knows??

PRODUCT REGISTER VOLUME is the usual PCSI command used when disk volumes are moved around.
