where can I find installation kits for V8.3

I need to download installation kits for OpenVMS 8.3 on Itanium and Alpha.

I have spent the last hour trying to find it on the ITRC site and have not met with any success. All I can find are patches.

Can anyone point me to the right place?

thanks,
Ole Jensen.

Not in an HP-run forum. Send some e-mail to
sms@antinode-org (more or less).

You have some kind of VMS system now? (And a
way to make CDs and DVDs?)

Re: where can I find installation kits for V8.3

We have a support agreement for the OS on both platforms. All I want to do is get the media so I can install for testing.

Why would HP not provide the OS if I have a valid support agreement?

I can't download a cracked copy, this is for a legit business.

thanks for the offer though.

Why ask here? Ask HP.

You can download kits from HP if you know
where to look, but don't let me twist your
arm.

Steven,

>Why ask here? Ask HP.

Hmmm, let's just check out the URL we're at here...

http://forums11.itrc.hp.com/service/...

One might be forgiven for believing "here" *IS* hp! That few people in hp take an active interest in the forum isn't Ole's fault.

Ole,

hp have never made OpenVMS installation kits generally downloadable. It's a policy decision, and was probably reasonable when a download would have taken a whole day, but revisiting policies in the light of new information or circumstances isn't one of hp's strengths ;-) If you have an upgrade license for OpenVMS you should have received a V8.3 distribution kit (2006?) Kits are in no way protected, so don't need "cracking".

Patches are freely available to anyone registered on itrc (got to itrc.hp.com and look for the link, you've obviously found them). Kits for layered products are available to people with contracts using a password - the URL, username and password are distributed with the CDs containing layered product kits (what is wrong with this picture?)

If you have a support agreement, you can log a case to request a copy. They may bill you for media. (see above, re policies)

Re: where can I find installation kits for V8.3

John,
Your explanation is much appreciated.
I came here because Purchasing was told by HP to come here to download the media that we needed. Since that is wrong, I will have to get HP to give me a price for the media.
I got a quote from a distributor, but it was over $1,000 for both kits. that seemed a bit excessive, so I was looking for alternatives.

at any rate, I have the answer I need to proceed. Back to HP and get a price from them, do up a PO and wait for the media to arrive.

Thanks for your assistance,
Ole Jensen.

Hmmm. I guess I learned a bit more about this forum.
I should have closed in the last response.
Oops. sorry for cluttering things up.

thanks again for your prompt replies.

Ole.
