About my DS20 Server harddisk problem.

Hello, I am a ALPHA new guy. I want to install Alpha DS20 use Tru64 5.1B OS,I have 9.1 GB x2 and 18GB X6 harddisk. The 9.1GB X2 I want to use raid1 for OS use, other 18GB x6 use raid 5 allocation for raw data. but don know use what software to arrange the software raid.Have any suggestion. Please help. Thanks.

Logical Storage Manager (LSM) product can help you create software raid. Check out the manual: http://h30097.www3.hp.com/docs/base_doc/DOCUMENTATION/V51B_HTML/ARH9BDTE/TITLE.HTM

have any different between advfs and Logical Storage Manager?

AdvFS is a file system. LSM is a storage product. It provides abstraction above the device layer such that you can have software raid.

Once you create an LSM volume, it can be used like a disk for storage. For example, I can add this LSM volume to an existing AdvFS file system (just like I do with a disk partition).
