Re: Add a ram
Hi,
1. check, if the server have the same speed
2. You will have to fill the banks in a certain order. On the cover of the ds20 there should be an illustration how the banks are numbered.
greetings,
Michael

Re: Add a ram
please use only certified rams (listed on the supported option list). The DS20 admin guide will guide you what kind of ram and how to organice them to reach the memory limit you need.

SolutionOverall Configuration Rules
Each system can support up to 4 GB of memory
A memory option consists of four DIMMs
All four DIMMs in an option must be the same size
The largest memory option must be installed in slots marked 0 on the system board
Other memory options must be the same size or smaller than the first memory option
Memory options must be installed in consecutive slots. The first pair goes into slots marked 0, the second pair into slots marked 1, and so on.
System supports up to four memory kits (each kit includes 4 industry-standard ECC DIMMs)
Mixing DRAMs of different stacking part technology
Mixing of stack and non-stacked DIMMS is not allowed within arrays or within banks.
You CAN mix stacked and monolythic technology DIMMs, within a system, but not within an array. The DIMMs within an array MUST be of the same capacity and type (stacked or monolythic ) because of the different memory addressing.
Option Size Part Number Description
MS340-BA 128MB 54-25066-BA SDRAM (4, 32 MB DIMMs) memory kit
MS340-CA 256MB 54-25053-BA SDRAM (4, 64 MB DIMMs) memory kit
MS340-DA 512MB 54-24941-EA SDRAM (4, 128 MB DIMMs) memory kit
MS340-EA 1GB 54-24941-FA(see note 1) SDRAM (4, 256 MB DIMMs) memory kit
20-01DSA-08 1GB 54-24941-HA(see note 1) SDRAM (256 MB DIMM) memory kit
