Re: Creating New file system Using Extra Disk

Paul,

you have to temporarely transfer a advfs-utilities license from another host and install it on that machine and delete it after that. I hope, you have that somewhere?
Do you know how to programme the hsz70?
There you could add the disks into one volume too.

Re: Creating New file system Using Extra Disk

Paul,

you may have lsm installed, but for certain things you need an extra lsm license, which according to your last lmf list, you don't have. Have you looked for an advfs-utilties license? If you don't have one, we can try to programme the hsz70.

Re: Creating New file system Using Extra Disk

Paul,

first I want to have the current configuration of the hsz70 subsystem.
hwmgr -show scsi
/usr/lbin/hsxterm5 -b X -t X -l X
just take one of the hsz70 disks.
Then post as attachment.
show this full
show disk full
show mirror full

thanks,

Michael

Re: Creating New file system Using Extra Disk

Not sure I clearly understand what you are advising me to do. An example would be nice (dsk5). I am still relatively new to the OS. Thanks

Re: Creating New file system Using Extra Disk

Paul,

hsxterm5 is a programme to access the command line interface(cli) of the hsz70

You call hsxterm5 -b x -t x -l x
b=bus, t=target, l=lun
in your case for example
41: 5 AlphaServe disk none 2 1 dsk4 [1/3/0]
hsxterm5 -b 1 -t 3 -l 0
Once you have the prompt, type these commands and post the asa attachment:
show this full
show disk full
show mirror full

I assume, dsk4-8 are free to use?

Michael

ps. You still didn't answer, how much space do you need for user data in one place?
Are there files bigger than one disk or do the data have to be in one directory?
