DLT 40/80 problem in use Led blinking on Alpha ES40

Hi all
I have installed DLT tape drive on alpha ES40, the tape works good and we did backup for three days.
suddenly the in use LED of the tape continue in blinking and rejects any media.
please advise

what do you mean by reject?
What does mt status say?

it sends the tape back after buting it in
mt states:

mt -f /dev/tape/tape2_d0 status

gives that the tape is online

the problem was solved by rebooting the system. however if this should happen another time we want to solve this without rebooting.

What version of Tru64 UNIX are you running, if 5.x, you can do a hwmgr -view dev and see if the system sees the tape drive.
you can also run the scu scan edt all, and then scu show edt all and let the system scan the buses and see the tape correctly.
