Re: ERROR ----- /dev/nrmt0h:No such device or address
# mt -f /dev/nrmt0h status
# scu show edt
# ls /dev/*rmt*
# file /dev/nrmt0h
Is it internal or external tape drive?
Jumpers are used to set SCSI address and some other parameters (SCSI parity and so on).
Wrong jumper settings can cause the problem

Re: ERROR ----- /dev/nrmt0h:No such device or address
Is there any forced operation for this...
output of file /dev/nrmt0h is
character special (9/32771) SCSI#2 SDT-9000
tape#19 (SCSI ID 0)( SCSI LUN #0) offline
ls /dev/*rmt* lists all the devices
I hav chaged some 4-5 tape drives but same kind of problem
wht could be the cause

Re: ERROR ----- /dev/nrmt0h:No such device or address
You should call for hardware maintenance.

Re: ERROR ----- /dev/nrmt0h:No such device or address
may I assume, it is external? Some tapes have an emergency switch, which can be pushed after the case has been removed. But other than that it is maintenance as said.
greetings,
Michael
