Exporting users from one machine to another

I am migrating from a PWS500 with 4.0F to a "new" PWS500 with 5.1B-4 and larger disks.
I know how to transfer user data, but I also need to transfer user settings and credentials. I know about /etc/passwd, but but I have realized there is more to it than that.

Can someone direct me on how to do this?

Are you using enhanced security?

# rcmgr get SECURITY

There are 10 kinds of people, one that understands binary and one that doesn't.

Re: Exporting users from one machine to another

when using the "unhashed" passwd file there is little problem.
when the new system is "empty" you can simply copy the lines from the old passwd to the new.
also do this for the /etc/group file

users thus will have the same UID on the new system, so when restoring the user directories (after adding the lines to the passwd file), the protection on the new system wil allso be correctly restored using this uid.

Re: Exporting users from one machine to another

You should consider transferring:

/etc/passwd
/etc/group

User home directories

/var/spool/crontabs/*
Por que hacerlo dificil si es posible hacerlo facil? - Why do it the hard way, when you can do it the easy way?

Thanks for all the advice, it seems enough.
