Subject: Extensions to Tru64 UNIX Customer Support Services

Dear Valued Tru64 UNIX Customer,

HP is pleased to announce significant extensions to customer support services for the Tru64 UNIX operating system and TruCluster Server software. Your feedback was instrumental in this decision. Our goal is to be responsive to your support requirements while providing a practical upgrade path as your environment evolves.

Highlights of this announcement are:

HP will sell Tru64 UNIX AlphaServer systems until at least 2006, with support until at least 2011.

The support of the various releases is currently planned as follows:

· Tru64 UNIX V4.0F and V4.0G: Prior Version Support â Sustaining Engineering (PVS-SE) is now extended until June 30, 2007, giving customers more time to plan their upgrades.
Please note that no new hardware options will be qualified under V4.0F and V4.0G.

· Tru64 UNIX V5.1A: Standard Support ended on February 29, 2004. PVS-SE is available since March 1, 2004 to June 30, 2007 to provide our V5.1A customers more time to plan and implement upgrades.
Under V5.1A, new hardware options will be qualified on an exception basis only.

· Tru64 UNIX V5.1B: V5.1B-1 and all future versions within the V5.1B stream will be supported during this timeframe in accordance with the Tru64 UNIX support policy. Therefore, the V5.1B stream is recommended for continued, long term Tru64 UNIX support.
New hardware options will continue to be qualified under V5.1B with its associated enhancements.

· Under PVS-SE, fixes for V4.0F, V4.0G and V5.1A will be provided on the latest patch kit only. Customers requiring support on earlier patch kits or releases that are no longer supported should contact their HP account teams to determine if custom support is available and under what terms and conditions such custom support may be purchased.

Good to here the news,

as most of the Government research organizations using Alpha systems, they(HP) can't terminate the support overnight.
