How to add Type1 (PostScript) fonts in Tru64?

Hi,

I have .pfa .pfb .afm and .inf files for some fonts, but mkfontdir dont create the fonts.dir file, and so, xset fp+ /... add nothing to fonts. Some help?

Hello Marcos,

since this is a Tru64 question, I do suggest you ask in the Tru64 forum at

http://forums1.itrc.hp.com/service/forums/categoryhome.do?categoryId=281

You are much more likely to get a good answer there.

the PFB files are outline fonts in binary format. But they can't be sent directly to PostScript printers. The .INF files are simply 'information' files, used during installation and when using the Font Foundry program. .PFM files are Windows Font Metrics files, derived from the distributed .AFM files.

Attached a document how you can use the adobe fonts within a printjob.

mkfontdir (have a look into the man page) includes pcf, snf and bdf fonts depending on the configuration.

If you want to add *.pfa files you must edit the fonts.dir file manually.
(sample /usr/lib/X11/fonts/Type1).
