How to keep LSM data during OS reinstall ?

We are running Tru64 5.1B with LSM. We have a simple installation. We have not encapsulated the root disk using LSM, nor are we running in a cluster. All LSM volumes are defined in the "rootdg" disk group.

We need to reinstall the OS, but wish to keep our current LSM configuration and disks. What is the correct procedure to do this in order to preserve our LSM config and data?

Thanks in advance.

I looked at volsave and volrestore. As I understand it, you need to set up a running LSM installation then run volrestore to restore the configuration.

However, my volumes are saved to the "rootdg" disk group. Wouldn't the initial install wipe out the information that I want to keep?

Can you give me a step by step on how to preserve my LSM config as well as keeping existing volumes on rootdg? Thank you.
