How to take OS backup in tru64

is there any os backup utility in tru64, which makes bootable tapes ??

I have version 4.0 & 5.1 servers in our datacenter

Re: How to take OS backup in tru64

in version 5 and up there exists the "btcreate" script.

don't know about V4?

This creates a bootable image on tape.
NB it generates a new kernel to put on the tape (/usr/sys/conf/<$HST>)
You can use that of the soucre system, but may need to modify this to boot the tape on other hardware

You can also specify which filessytems to put on the bootable tape in the file /usr/lib/sabt/etc/fslist
Although you specify this file as parameter to btcreate it NEEDS to be in this location.

to boot from tape
boot -fl "na"
and follow instructions.
NB default restore creates default partition sizes (small root partition).

Re: How to take OS backup in tru64

Thanks Pieter & steven for your suggestions.

Hope btcreate is a inbuilt utility in tru64 & no need of extra software installation.

I am closing this thread & will open an other if i face any issues on implementation.

THanks
