KZPCC online volume expansion?

Hi folks,

I'm trying to do online expansion of a RAID 1 volume that's running off a KZPCC controller (DPT). The not-very-helpful documentation tells me it's possible but doesn't say how, the KZPCC controller page on the HP website says it's possible but neither the offline BIOS config (V1.12) or SWCC (v2.31) have that sort of option available.

Has anyone done this before?

Cheers

Re: KZPCC online volume expansion?

Most smart array storage devices allow you to add disks into a "logical unit" and then say they support "online expansion".

But growing the size of the pseudo-disk that the host sees is the easy part. The hard part is making the filesystem use the new space without loosing what it had before. Most filesystems also say they support online expansion and have some unique procedure to do it after you have expanded the storage logical unit.

I think there are too many things that can go wrong during and after this expansion so my recommendation is you don't try to do this.
