LSM Disk Media Record " failing" Attribute

Hi,

We had a power outage and a mirror break followed by this problem.

The problem is volprint shows the disk medias ( dm ) state as failing.

I am able to edit the attribute value and set it to off , create new subdisks and remirror.

But just wondering what is the point at which LSM flags a dm as failing and is it ok to turn the failing flag off.

Thanks in advance

Re: LSM Disk Media Record " failing" Attribute

the lsm documentation describes in detail what each status means. Should I cut & paste it or do you look inside the documenation?

The "failing" means that LSM notes that the drive was unavailable and will maintain this state until the next cluster reboot or until the state is manually cleared (voledit set failing=off DMNAME) which is the default procedure to fix the problem.

Re: LSM Disk Media Record " failing" Attribute

Yeah thanks for pointing out about the LSM documentation.

But i am not able to understand why should the LSM flag a dm as failing and show the volumes as Enabled and Active.

I can see that none of the physical disks have failed actually.

Thanks for your prompt response.
