NIS very slow to update

I have a pair of DS25 AlphaServers running Tru64 5.1B.
I have NIS configured in a master/slave relationship between the two.
When I update information on a NIS user on the master using dxaccounts. The system is very slow to transmit this to the slave. (circa 2 minutes with the hourglass showing.)
I only have about 150 users defined, and the systems are very lightly loaded.
(I am running enhanced security.)

Any ideas how I can speed this up ?

Have you tried using the yppush command?
Por que hacerlo dificil si es posible hacerlo facil? - Why do it the hard way, when you can do it the easy way?

Re: NIS very slow to update

When running Enhanced Security it is recommended that you not use a slave server for performance reasons. That doesn't explain the extremely bad performance you're seeing, though. Is the delay in kicking off the update or is it just a slow network?

Re: NIS very slow to update

The network is FDDI, (which is getting long in the tooth), but it too is lightly loaded. The delay appears to be in the update itself.
I need a slave to provide some level of resiliance.
I believe that dxaccounts will be calling yppush as a part of its update.
