1) Enable 'Enhanced Security' on the system
2) Use 'dxaccounts' to set the expiry date for passwords.

Re: Password Expiry dyas in tru 64 unix

First, you need to enable ENHANCED SECURITY on your system, use sysman secconfig to do that.

Then, you must configure the default database file for Enhanced security /etc/auth/system/default.

u_exp#5184000

The value is in seconds, this for a 60 days password expiration.

You can use the edauth command to modify the values.

Re: Password Expiry dyas in tru 64 unix

As stated above, the simplest way to modify the values is using the dxaccounts GUI.

Re: Password Expiry dyas in tru 64 unix

Entries in a specific user's Enhanced Security authentication profile will supersede the entry in the default template. So you should set the entry in the default template to be the expiration that you want for the majority of users. Then, for each user that you want a different (or no) expiration you should edit the user's authentication profile individually. To disable password expiration set it to 0 (zero). You can set the password expiration with dxaccounts (sysman), usermod, or edauth. See the various man pages for more information on these tools. The definitions of the various authentication profile items (including password expiration) are in the prpasswd man page.

Hi,

In dxaccounts, when looking at a user account click on the 'Security...' button. It should bring you to the 'Password Controls' window (indicated in the 'Turn To' box).

javaidsarwar,

For an individual user, double-click on the user's icon. Then you'll see the 'Security...' button.

For the default record, click on the 'View' pull-down menu and select 'Local Templates'. Then double-click on the 'Default' icon.
