Hi all.
I´m new to Unix configuration, and I´m having some problem here:
I use Unix Tru64 on Alpha DS20E server, with one 18Gb HD.
During the installation of unix, we put some amount of space to partitions /, /usr, /var, etc...
Now I have to change this sizes. But with diskconfig I can´t. It says that the partition is currently in use by the system and may not be modified now. Can I solve this problem without losing my informations???
(To explain better: now I have partitions a, b, e and g. What I wanna do is make partition 'e' smaller and partition 'a' bigger. Partition 'e' have no information now.)
Thanks a lot for any help.

Solution
Your option is:
Backup all your operating system data with vdump.
Boot from the installation media and resize your partitions.
Restore your data.
Detailed information about this process can be found in the Advfs manual available at the documentation page, "How to recover from a failed root disk".
