SCSI Dosk Usage with AlphaServer 4100

Hi,

We have a AlphaServer 4100 connected to a Storageworks(disk array). The array has "DS-RZ1FC-VW" disks in it.
Can i add "RZ29B-VA" disks to the same array & use it ??

Thanks & Regards,
Ramesh.K.R.

Hi,

my first thought was "add yes, use no" ;-)
Please give more detail about model of disk array and used controller.

vw is wide and va not.

thanks,

Michael

Ramesh,
My impression is that you cannot have a mix of VW and VA.

May be you could give some additional details on the array

Re: SCSI Dosk Usage with AlphaServer 4100

Hm. I thought I have seen such a question somewhere else already...

It depends on the exact configuration if this works or not. I have just put an RZ28M-VA in a BA364-AB box (all IDs < 7) and it runs fine with other -VW disks (as to be expected), but I know that some storage controllers explicitly reject narrow disks.

You really need to reveal how you configuration looks like - else you might get wrong advise.
