System Clone
What is the best way to make the second system be a true backup of the prodcution. ( beside clustering them.) Lets say the production system is down, I would like to be able to boot the second system up as the production!
Any ideas??

Re: System Clone
It depends on your environment. Tell us.
e.g. do you have a SAN? ...

Re: System Clone
But then you will have downtime if for some reason the OS corrupts.
Thinking simple, why not install same ver. of OS and apps. on both the systems and map the shared data disk.

Re: System Clone
-Do you boot from the SAN?
-Any local disks involved?
-Do you use LVM?
-What failure do you want to cover?
The easiest:
-All Disks on the SAN (including boot disk).
-Server A breaks (HW failure but data ok)
-On the SAN: give Server B access to all Disks
-Boot Server B

Re: System Clone
So the only chance is to configure both servers independently or by using the real clone utility. Remapping data-disks in case of trouble to the survived machine.
