Textless buttons in Oracle Installer's Splash Screen

I am running HP Tru64 on an AlphaXP900.
I have met all, (according to the docs at Oracle) the prerequisites for installing 9i.
I log in as the Oracle software owner type the following:
[oracle@tokdev2]# /usr/opt/ORA_FILES/Disk1/runInstaller
[oracle@tokdev2]# Initializing Java Virtual Machine from /tmp/OraInstall2004-04-05_05-38-38PM/jre/bin/java. Please wait...

I wait, and in a jiffy the Splash screens greets me - but all the buttons are textless, so I have to abort.
Any ideas?

Thank you.

Re: Textless buttons in Oracle Installer's Splash Screen

I am installiing Oracle through the console.
This machine is not headless.
I did not see any errors.
However...
when I exported the display to my Linux laptop and used xhost, the text came up in the splash screen and I was able to install the client software.
This issue still needs resolving as I intend to use this workstation to manage my Oracle databse servers.
I must be lacking some fonts or something.

Re: Textless buttons in Oracle Installer's Splash Screen

I noticed that my path setting for JRE 1.3.1 came after the Java installed by the OS install - in /usr/bin.
Rearranged my path and all's well. Fonts display in the buttons.

I found an interesting link regarding Java and CDE issues.
