Tru64 for Hobbyist use

Hi,

There are sites that offer tru64 media (os, doc, patch kits, ...) for download treating the software as abandonware. Can I link to these sites from my blog for example without fear of legal prosecution?

You may download them, there are no claims from OEM anymore.

Says who?  The copyright owner?  Show me the release.

What will?  The fact that you got permission from someone, who is not
the copyright owner, to violate the copyright on this copyrighted
material?

I wouldn't expect the Software Police to come breaking down your door
at 4 AM on any day soon, but I wouldn't call that a license to
use/distribute this copyrighted material.

Re: Tru64 for Hobbyist use

Its worth observing that while there may indeed be places out there where you can find 'tru64 media', as Steven S has indicated, they are not official, or officially sanctioned by the copyright & license holder(s) (AKAIK).  And further, most, if not all, are old/retired releases, field test releases, and the like, not current, or 'supported' or even 'supportable' ... thus their utility is questionable.

The most useful source for real genuine kits is the second hand market.  Not many weeks pass without a V5.X kit being offered in either the US or Europe on fleaBay.... (no I'm not listing any). They're usually fairly inexpensive (IMHO), and licences are often available there as well.

If you want to play with Tru64, those are the places to get your fix.

"PAK" and "licence" (or "license") are spelled differently for a
reason.
