Unable to perform a fresh CD-ROM Install of Tru64 Unix to an EMC DMX Storage

After booting from the CD to perform a fresh install of Tru64 Unix V5.1B on an ES40 fabric-zoned to a EMC DMX Storage, only internal SCSI drives as available as options to install the Operating System. EMC Fiber Disks provisioned from the DMX are not available as an option to install the OS into. The EMC fiber disks are detected at the SRM level though.

Please let me know , if at all it is possible to perform a fresh CD-ROM install of Tru64 Unix V5.X in an ES-40 available with EMC SAN Disks and why is it that am not getting EMC disks as an option to install the OS fresh.

Have you set all parameters in the console using wwidmgr?

You must configure the hba topology with:

wwidmgr -set adapter -item 9999 -topo FABRIC

Then, ensure that you see the disk presented to the host with:

wwidmgr show reachability

Then, you should configure the disk with the wwidmgr quickset command to be available at installation time

wwidmgr quickset -udid OS_UNIT_ID
