corrupted quota.user

we have a alpha (os 5.1) server. I have quota.user file which is corrupted. Any ideas how to get rid off / correct it ? It causes headaches for backups

Try using the quotacheck -u command.
Por que hacerlo dificil si es posible hacerlo facil? - Why do it the hard way, when you can do it the easy way?

You cannot get rid of this file. Its a mandatory file for AdvFS.

Why do you believe it is corrupted? Because of the large size?

Note that this is a sparse file (indexed by the UID's found in the file system). If you have a backup procedure that understands sparse files, then this doesn't need to be a problem. Some backup applications allow one to specify files that do not need to be backed up. The quota.user and quota.group file in the top of a file set do not need to be backed up, so you could mark these files as such (assuming your backup application understands that).
