hwmgr process is hung

I tried to delete a tape device using the following commnd:

hwmgr -delete scsi -did 79

This process didn`t finish and spawned another process that runs
dsfmgr -Z rm_cluster_hwid 267 4611911973543442097

I tried to Kill both processes using kill pid , kill -9 pid but couldn`t kill the process.

The only option is to reboot the server , which I cannot do ..

Any ideas
