I have my first firmware upgrade task to perform on a HBA that is downlevel:
http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareIndex.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&prodNameId=327013&prodTypeId=12169&prodSeriesId=327008&swLang=8&taskId=135&swEnvOID=1048
can someone provide me the upgrade process - I am currently reading the manual.
Thanks
Chris

Solution- download the .zip file
- extract the files
- read the file 392a2_fw_upgrade_proc.txt
Read the file from a Floppy (for Alpha systems which support floppy) :
1) Get the new Firmware image (xxx393a0.SYS), and copy it to a fat-formatted floppy on a PC.
2) Boot a current LFU from media or the network, and get to the LFU prompt (UPD> ).
3) Put the FAT floppy into the floppy drive on the Alpha system.
4) Do the update from floppy via the "-path" specifier :
UPD> update pga0 -path fat:dd393a0.sys/dva0
(where pga0 is the LP8000 in this example, and dva0 is the floppy device).

Re: install firmware
I normally use the bootable firmware CD to perform upgrades, as you don't have to mess around with floppies.
The latest CD image is available from here:
ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/alphaserver/firmware/v73.zip
Hope this helps,
Regards,
Rob

Re: install firmware
Just download the cdrom image, burn it, boot from the CDROM, run the update command.

Re: install firmware
I have the perfect solution and an HP engineer is going to do the work at the remote-site whilst performing a memory upgrade
