lprsetup advice

We have a helpdesk that uses lpc to check/restart lpd print queues on my system. I am trying to pass to them the responsibility of setting up of lpd type printers. What is the minimum group security required for lprsetup? What is the best way to protect my system, whilst allowing the none experienced users to use lprsetup?

Re: lprsetup advice

the only way is by using "dop" or to set the SUID-Bit + root user on the executable. Another way is to invest money in training.....

Look at the freeware program sudo, I used this to get round a similar problem.

Re: lprsetup advice

dop is the official supported program, sudo is totally unsupported on Tru64.
