Re: peer died: Not owner

this message indicates a duplicate IP adress within the network or a monitor/hacker program leading to a packet transfer.

Re: peer died: Not owner

Could you tell me what the monitor is?

Re: peer died: Not owner

monitor means monitoring program e.g. portscanner, trafficgenerator etc.

Re: peer died: Not owner

It could also mean that the initiator of
the telnet session has a duplicate
IP addres (ie 2 systems on your network
use the same IP-addres)

Johan.

Re: peer died: Not owner

Hi,

If you have only three messages, then it could also be a network brown out which caused three remote users running background processes and expected an output from "HOSTNAMEA" that got disconnected. Check for rogue processes.. and users disconected abnormally.
If you have a continous stream of messages then you had better investigate.. as it could well be a hacker trying to check which ports are free...

Orrin.
