Re: rebuilding kernel issue

Hi!

I dont know what you mean about looping - it restarts and starts building the kernel over and over again?

Anyway, try to boot using genvmunix, and then rebuild the kernel manually.

Re: rebuilding kernel issue

Maybe the /dev/null device on your system was accidentally replaced with a real file?

Re: rebuilding kernel issue

Hi,

Yes I've seen this before. If I remember correctly it was because the CDSL (Cluster Dependant Symbolic Link) for /vmunix had been broken...

Hope this helps,

Re: rebuilding kernel issue

Hi,

I didn't remember correctly... The problem was actually down to an invalid hardware database.

Cheers,

Re: rebuilding kernel issue

Check root's .profile and /etc/profile for a trap command that traps signal 15. If it exists, comment it out, log in again, and try to build the kernel.
