How to recover the root passwd in tru64 digital 5.1 OS?

I refered the following for recovering passwd +
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
press the HALT Button or
(Control├в P)
>>>boot ├в fl s
lsmbstartup
/sbin/bcheckrc
passwd root
but lsmbstartup is not working.. Kindly let me know how to resolve the same.

If you have no LSM installed on your system then you don't have to give the lsmbstartup command.
In v5.1, you better give following comands
>>> boot -fl s
# /sbin/mountroot
# /sbin/bcheckrc
# run the passwd command now
f.y.i.
/sbin/lsmbstartup starts the Logical Storage Manager (LSM) during reboot.
--> man lsmbstartup.
In v5.1, you better give following comands
