selecting disk to boot from

I have issued a set auto_action boot but when I poewr my server on it fails to boot with a usage message for the boot command indicating that I need to specify a boot device.
DO I need to specify a default boot disk? If so, how?

Re: selecting disk to boot from

You have to specify some console variables. For example your boot disk will be dka0
>>> set auto_action boot
>>> set bootdef_dev dka0
>>> set osflag a (for unix)
In vino veritas, in VMS cluster

If you are already booted, you could use 'consvar' command to accomplish this. It will be effective during the next reboot. Refer to manpage for more details.

Thank you. I shut the server down and applied the suggested settings.
