unable to telnet

I am unable to telnet Tru 64 unix box installed on DS15 server.
I can ping that machine but ssh or telnet access is not their??
Is there any file configuration to enable telnet access.
If I telnet or ssh that machine, it is taking too much time.

Please help me.

Hi,

you should be able to telnet.
Have you tried to login on the console and then telnet onto itself?
What happens if you try to telnet?
Is there an error message or does it just hang?

See if "rcinet restart" does the trick.

i have telnet to
localhost ie to same machine: it is showing "Connection refused "

when telnet from other machine:
connection terminated by remote host, connection refused

Please send /etc/inetd.conf
Check if telnet and ssh daemons are enabled in inetd.conf.

As Vladimir said, check that /etc/inetd.conf has the telnet service enabled, like this:

telnet stream tcp nowait root /usr/sbin/telnetd telnetd

If not, enable it and run:

inetd -h

if you telnet to the box and it take a long time to accept the conection add your host to /etc/hosts or use a DNS
