what the "d1" mean in "tape0_d1"

Hi
when i list /dev/ntape, there is a list of tape like this:
tape0
tape0_d0
tape0_d1
tape0_d2
tape0_d3
tape0_d4
tape0_d5
tape0_d6
tape0_d7
tape0c
i hope someone can tell me what the d0,d1 mean in tape0_d0,tape0_d1.and what the tape0c mean?

It's a density selector.
Check the man pages for tz (book 7)

For example:
