just wondering, has somebody here real experience with growing VMFS datastore running on EVA's ? We are closing to run-out-of-space point and want to perform increase of EVA's lun, then grow datastore in ESX4 storage configuration. According vmware guide at http://www.vmware.com/pdf/vsphere4/r40/vsp_40_esx_server_config.pdf it should be pretty smooth (we did it many times on real windows and linux luns on our Eva6000), just want to hear somebody did it already... :)
thanks for posts

Re: Growing vmfs datastore on HP EVA
Just expand the virtual disk, rescan so that the server(s) pick up the new size and then INCREASE the datastore.
Maybe rescan again to make sure the other servers have picked up the new datastore size. I like to check twice...

Re: Growing vmfs datastore on HP EVA
I increased LUN on EVA, is visible in vmware, but I can not choose device for expanding... Pretty strange, am I doing something wrong? See attachments.

Re: Growing vmfs datastore on HP EVA
I think that you are growing the datastore from vcenter. That's why it didn't work. You should enlarge the datastore directly from ESX/ESXi server. Don't worry. I have done this a lot of times.
Submit your points if this solved it.

SolutionWhen I said "directly to ESX/ESXi" I meant through the GUI. Please check this:
