No storage status on VMware ESX 4.1 and HP DL360 G7

I have only used ESXi in the past. Storage monitoring on my HP servers was an ongoing issue. I eventually got it resolved by installing the correct offline bundle. There always seemed to be an issue of some sort surrounding this every time I bought some new HP hardware or a new version of ESXi was released. I have now made the plunge and upgraded to a high end ESX 4.1 setup. It is all new DL360 G7 servers. I originally was going to boot from SAN, partially to not have to deal with this issue. I did a pre sales call with VMware and was advised that this was more headache than it was worth. I described my above problem that I had experienced in the past. They guaranteed me that was no longer an issue. On my new ESX 4.1/DL 360 G7 setup, it is still an issue. I just got everything up and running, and I still canтАЩt see storage under the health tab in the Vsphere client. I can see everything else. I have installed hpmgmt-8.5.1-vmware4x.tgz and have the HP mgmt app up and running. I have installed the hp-nmi-bundle-1.0.02.zip driver. I attempted to install the hp-esxi4.1uX-bundle-1.0.zip offline bundle, but it says it doesnтАЩt apply when I try to install on ESX 4.1. What can I do? I thought this issue was a thing of the past. This is so frustrating. I donтАЩt know which company needs to resolve the issue, but I know who is suffering. Can someone point me in the right direction?
Thanks,
Matthew

Hello,
we use some older bl685c's and do not catch the problem. Is it possible for you post here screenshot what you see in vsphere client?
We use Dell PE2970 for ESXi, no problem (or at least not noticed.)

I do not see it on an older DL380 running ESXi, but it has the offline bundle installed. We do not see it our Dells either. Screenshot is attached.

Sorry, try this screenshot. That last one didn't format properly.

Do you have the systems management homepage loaded?

Can you check it to see if all the agents are installed/running properly?

Systems mgmt page is running (see attached).
Below is a list of processes with hp in the name. I don't know how to tell if they are all running or not...

We run ESX 4u2 without any problem. We even see storage - occupation etc...
Try to reinstall management agents and system homepage...

Re: No storage status on VMware ESX 4.1 and HP DL360 G7

I have reinstalled everything. No change. Vmware says it is because HP uses a closed source driver and they need to provide the IPMI driver. The VMware tech agreed to call HP and discuss. Once we were routed to the VMware team, we sat on hold for 2 hours and gave up. fun, fun, fun...

Re: No storage status on VMware ESX 4.1 and HP DL360 G7

hmm, no more experience with 4.1 - our current servers (bl685c g1) are "retired" by HP terms and have no ESX 4.1 official certification, so we did not upgrade it yet and we asked HP for explanation...

Re: No storage status on VMware ESX 4.1 and HP DL360 G7

Apparently I have been wasting my time. I found out yesterday the ESX line will no longer be released after 4.1 and everything will be ESXi going forward. I guess all the name changes over the past few years have confused me a bit. HP has no issues working with ESXi, so I guess all is well now.
