I have purchase for a customer 10 proliant DL380G7 (6 cores processor) with 2 physical processors each.
The customer wants to install ESXi on each of the 10 physical servers to be able to fully virtualize.
Whenever he tries to apply the license from the VCenter, he get the message: "This license is not enough for this hardware".
Please what can we do to achieve the desired result ?
Here is the license information we got from HP:
Serial Number(s) for VMware vSphere 4 Enterprise Plus for 1 processor (Max
12 cores per processor) :
xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx 1 CPU(s)
Serial Number(s) for VMware vSphere 4 Enterprise Plus for 1 processor (Max
12 cores per processor) :
xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx 1 CPU(s)
Serial Number(s) for VMware vSphere 4 Enterprise Plus for 1 processor (Max
12 cores per processor) :
xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx 1 CPU(s)
You will need these serial numbers to unlock your product during
installation.
Thanks and Best Regards !

Solution
hello,
Is hp vendor for vmware licenses? If yes, you do not get vmware SN directly, you just get so called activation codes which must by activated by customer at http://www.vmware.com/solutions/partners/alliances/hp-code.html .
From your post it looks you already have SN for vmware, but only 3 lic for 1 CPU.
According your setup - 10 servers with 2 socket populated - you need 10 vmware lic numbers for 2 CPU's. So from HP / other vendor you need get 20 pcs of 1CPU licences and combine them in customer vmware portal to 10 pcs 2CPU lic numbers.
If you have on 3 lic for 1CPU, you can combine 2 of them to one and cover one server, then use last one for one CPU server only.
I hope it helps.
